AccessData is a software development company that specializes in digital forensics, e-discovery, and cybersecurity solutions. Founded in 1987, AccessData offers a comprehensive suite of products designed to assist organizations in criminal and civil investigations, including digital forensics, incident response, legal review, compliance, auditing, and information assurance. Their flagship product, Forensic Toolkit (FTK), is widely used for computer forensics, enabling users to locate deleted emails and scan disks for strings to use them as a password dictionary to crack encryption or hashes. Additionally, AccessData provides FTK Imager, a tool that saves an image of a hard disk in one file or in segments that may be later reconstructed, and Password Recovery Toolkit, a workstation-level password cracking application. The company also offers Distributed Network Attack, a distributed cryptographic brute force cracking network, and FTK Mobile Phone Examiner, a cellular phone evidence collection tool. In December 2020, AccessData was acquired by Exterro, further expanding Exterro's platform to address all legal governance, risk, compliance, and digital investigation needs in one integrated solution.
